0630hrs: Departed Jantz Point and head out to a safer distance of the coast before a day tacking hard on the wind in a 15 to 20kt Southeasterly.
1300hrs: Starboard engine got hot so I shut it down.
1400hrs: Entered the Jackson Channel and anchored as we could make no way into the wind with only one engine. Pulled the cooling system apart. blew out all pipes--no problems. Replaced the water pump impeller--it looked ok and once all reassembled, started the motor up--still no water out the exhaust. Only one thing left to check--the throughhole and sea cock. Sea water came through, but not as much as one might expect. Fired up the compressor and used my air blower tool to blast air back through the saltwater inlet. A lot more water came into the boat after that. Pipe back on and bingo, water in the exhaust and a cool motor.
1520hrs: Arrived in Weipa after a long day.
