0500hrs: After a sleepless night and an unexpected wind change to the south I departed Statute Bay heading to Svensons Beach GKI.
Narrowly missed a small white fishing boat running in the dark with no lights. It really pisses me off when this happens.
0800hrs: Arrived at Svensons Beach looking forward to a better night's sleep.
1100hrs: Left CCYC pontoon to anchor around the corner in Statute Bay
1130hrs: Safely anchored in Statute Bay. Not too much swell.
1600hrs: Took the dinghy back to the boat from the harbour and the waves were across the boat and up to a metre. With some difficulty I boarded and retrieved the dinghy.
2400hrs: Waves increased and wind change to southerly meant a very uncomfortable night.
1430hrs: Departed Chocolate Rocks headed for the CYC pontoon
1600hrs: Arrived at CCYC pontoon.
0930hrs: After waiting for the tide we successfully departed Yellow Patch Lagoon and headed for Fisherman's Beach on Great Keppel Island (GKI).
1300hrs: Arrived at Fisherman's Beach and Anchored.
1600hrs: Moved to Chocolate Rocks for the night when the wind turned southerly.
0800hrs: Departed Pancake Creek headed for Yellow Patch. Motor sailed all the way--very light winds.
Caught our second fish off Gladstone in amongst the anchored ships.
1600hrs: Arrived at Yellow Patch and used previously provided GPS marks and eye to navigate into Yellow Patch lagoon.
0600hrs: Departed Rules Beach after an uncomfortable night headed for Pancake Creek
Caught our first fish for a while.
1630hrs: Arrived at Pancake Creek and anchored well up the creek and caught up with friends from Cat Magic.
0930hrs: Departed Bundaberg Town Reach and headed back down to the marina to fuel up and water.
Light winds and motored most of the way.
1100hrs: Departed Burnett River for Rules Beach
1700hrs Arrived at Rules Beach and anchored off the beach just north of the creek.
0600hrs: Departed Woodgate Beach and headed for Bundy.
Winds light from the west.
1330hrs: Arrived in Bundaberg and anchored in the Burnett river.
0530hrs: Departed Gary's Anchorage and headed against the tide toward the north of Fraser Island.
Wind swung to the west and we motored all the way from Fraser Island to Woodgate.
1900hrs: Arrived at Woodgate beach.
1000hrs: Departed Double Island point heading for the Wide Bay Bay and beyond.
1300hrs: As we approached the bar a massive thunderstorm came across from the mainland and reduced visibility to less than 100 meters. We slowed the boat down and waited for the storm to pass before crossing the bar using the coastguard's way-points. Easy in the end and we negotiated the bar without incident. Along with 12 other boats we crossed the bar and used some excellent breeze to sail up to Gary's Anchorage on Fraser Island.
