0600hrs: Woken up by the wind coming in from the south, south west. It quickly increased to 20kts and became quite rough behind the island where we were anchored.
We began to motor up on the anchor and just after we got the first 10m up the fishing boat on the only mooring swung away from the buoy band veered directly towards us. Much shouting and waving (from me) ensued and he only just missed us with his poles.
We retrieved the rest of the 40 metres of chain and set sail on the jib alone.
15 to 20kts from the south and then the south east meant that we easily averaged 5.5kts all the way to Cairns. Lots of commercial traffic from Fitzroy Island on.,
1240hrs: Arrived in Cairns , Trinity Inlet.
