0700hrs: Departed Iluka, headed out of the Clarence. Contacted Iluka Marine Rescue and asked about the condition of the bar and was advised that caution was required.
0730hrs: Crossed the bar at low tide. Even though the waves were 2 to 2.5 metres, we passed through really short steep waves, a few breakers--not much fun at all.
0800hrs: The seas are very confused with equal sized NE and SE waves coming together. Lots of waves crashing into and between the hulls.
Suzy is really crook and was to spend the whole day in our bunk.

| Lennox Head |
1600hrs: Arrived at the Ballina Bar. Marine Rescue's advice was not recommended and that was an understatement. The waves were big and nasty even over the outer bar as we crossed--the actual bar was whitewater as far as the eye could see.

| Approaching Cape Byron |
1800hrs: Arrived at Byron Bay and anchored between the beach and a small reef. While the waves were not big we spent most of the night side-on or stern-on to the waves which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep.
