Seventeen Seventy to Bundaberg

 0800hrs:  Left Seventeen Seventy.

A pretty straight forward day today leaving Seventeen Seventy following our track in and then battling a southeasterly that turned into a northeasterly eventually.  Some 40+ nautical miles today bearing away towards the coast early to make good speed knowing that the wind would swing to the north.  Initially we lost ground on three other boats motor sailing into the wind, but as the day wore on with a northerly change and increased speed (about 10- 12 kts apparent) our leeward position became an advantage and we outstripped their initial advantage and beat them into the Burnett river.

Lovely sailing weather from 1100hrs on with speeds of around 7 to 8 kts.

1630hrs: Arrived in the Burnett River, Bundaberg.

The following images we took along the way:

Tomorrow we are off to the Sandy Straits in between Fraser Island and the mainland.
