Watermaker Update
After some fantastic advice after the initial install, I've shortened and covered with foam rubber the high pressure hoses. Much neater and less trouble.

Starting to kick some goals
Rainman Watermaker
I bought this unit over 2 years ago and have now finally complected the installation. Should produce 120 -- 14 litres per hour. I went for the 240VAC version as we have sufficient power onboard.
Unlike many yachties who use their watermaker every couple of days to avoid the need to pickle the membranes, we will use ours only when we run out of water. We should only need to run it for 2.5 hours to completely fill our tanks and then pickle the membranes again. This will avoid the possibilities of forgetting to pickle and the ensuing grunge that grows in the filters and membranes.
Marine VHF Radio Working again
Our GME VHF radio died on the trip back from Mackay. I'd used it in my old boat where it had been in direct sunlight for a long time. The replacement microphone was very simple to replace without the need to pull the radio apart. Radio check back to the mainland shown that all is working well now.
