Pearl Bay to Great Keppel Island

 0750hrs:  Departed Pearl Bay to head to Port Clinton.

  • Wind 1-3kts from the southeast
  • Back in mobile service wind for cast to strengthen from the Southeastern over the next day or two--decision made to motor sail all the way to GKI

1900hrs:  Arrived in Fishermans Bay GKI

Curlew Island to Pearl Bay

 0500hrs:  Departed Curlew Island

  • wind 10-12kts Easterly
  • Loads of current-first against then with and finally near Townsend Island down to 1.2 kts COG
  • Planned to stopp of Supply Bay, but Coastguard advise that Supply Bay and Island Head creek were closed for live firing.
  • struck out wide of Townsend Island then aimed for Pearl Bay

2200hrs:  Arrived in Pearl Bay--long day.

Linderman Island to Curlew Island

 0500hrs:  Departed Linderman Island

  • wind 10-15kts Easterly
  • Motor sailed all the way

1800hrs:  Arrived at Curlew Island

Glouster Passage to Linderman Island

 0700hrs:  Departerd Glouster Passage

  • wind 5 to 10kts easterly

1000hrs:  Arrived at Coral Sea Marina to Refuel

1100hrs:  Departed marina to a 25kt northerely

  • once around Pioneer Point wind dropped--motor sailing again

1700hrs:  Arrived Linderman Island

Cape Upstart to Glouster Passage

 0500hrs:  Departed Cape Upstart

  • wind 10-15 Easterly
  • thunderstorms and lots of rain

1600hrs: Arrived at Glouster Passage

  • picked up a mooring, but the tide carried it under the boat.
  • Dropped the mooring and anchored

Magnet Island to Cape Upstart

 0500hrs:  Departed Magnetic Island

  • a sunken three masted schooner appeared in the early morning close to where we anchored overnight
  • wind 10-15kt easterly
  • motor sailed all the way

1800hrs: Arrived at Cape Upstart

Dunk Island to Magnetic Island

 0300hrs:  Departed Dunk Island

  • light easterly wind

1300hrs:  Lost spinnaker over the side off Palm Island 

  • gathered it in and avoided it fouling the prop and going under the boat.

1930hrs:  Arrived at Magnetic Island and anchored out wide to avoid a flashing orange light 

  • Very tired.
